Michael J. Rielly – Bristol, Rhode Island

In 1971, with a little help from his grandfather James D. Rielly, Michael Rielly, first donned the red suit. Little did he know that he was following in his grandfather’s boot steps.

Michael Rielly has appeared as Santa Claus in film, television, commercials, radio, print, and newspapers, and has been recognized as “Rhode Island’s premier Santa” and an “expert in Santa and Christmas”. In 2007, he founded the ClausNet Santa Claus Network, now the oldest and largest community and professional resource dedicated to the traditions and faithful portrayal of Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.

In 2017, Michael established the James D. Rielly Foundation, 501(c)(3) organization providing charitable and emotional support to children and families of military, law enforcement, and first responders. In 2022, the Foundation launched the Bristol Santa House, a nationally unique program created to provide a fully immersive Christmas experience for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

Over the years, Michael Rielly’s work has been recognized through numerous civic and community honors, including Special Recognition from Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee, Secretary of State Gregg Amore, and the Rhode Island Senate and House of Representatives.
