Kona Gant
“Clan Claus”
North Ridgeville, Ohio
1951 – Current
International Santa Claus Hall of Fame – December 2025
Uniting the Santa Claus community, nurturing families, and expanding his skills and innovation are a few hallmarks of Kona’s journey. Kona first wore the “Suit” 55 years ago because it fit. As his Santa career expanded, the “suit” fit Kona — body, heart, mind and soul.
Incorporating his Catholic faith, Scottish heritage, natural creativity, and skills in bringing people together forged a loyal following. Kona’s first 5 years were spent performing at local events, and he loved it! His passion brought him to the Perttis Garden Center for 10 years more.
Kona developed loyalty and unique components of his craft, including texting for a spot in line, and free pictures with Santa. He didn’t want anyone to miss a meal just to afford to capture a core family memory with Santa.
In 2008 Kona founded the Clan Claus Society with the vision of bringing Santas together and putting aside petty differences. His Scottish roots led him to develop Tartan Contests and creating a Tartan recognized by the Scottish Tartan Society. The Clan Claus membership is joined with a crest, a crest badge and the beautiful motto, “Believe.” More than 700 Santas and Mrs. Claus from 15 countries in fact do “Believe” as the membership continues to grow.
Kona is a member of the Knights of St. Nicholas, the Knights Templer, and the Sovereign Order of the Temple of Jerusalem.
